- This journey started when I rediscovered this abstract. I had painted it ages ago and didn’t know what to do with it next…

I hadn’t felt motivated to paint for fun for quite some time. So I consulted Mr. Google and became inspired by the simplicity of Sandrine Pellissier’s abstract still life process and thought I’d give it a try.

I began by searching my canvas to find interesting bits that could be flowers and then using opaque white paint I covered what I didn’t want. I added a vase and didn’t know what to do with with what looked like two grouping of flowers. I felt like I was losing the simplicity.

I put the canvas aside for a while as I couldn’t figure out what to do next. Then I remembered advice about printing off a pic or two and using a felt pen to find a way forward…
Then it became this…

… and, Voila, my first abstract still life!

Of course, it’s nothing like what I had in mind when I started. It was a new journey; the terrain was not as simple as I thought, but I quite like where it went.
My daughter suggested I should ‘add some more gold up there‘ but I had already packed up my luggage and disembarked from the train!!
Beautiful!
