She called her intuitive collage ‘Reflection’. ”It’s that part of myself that doesn’t like to look in the mirror” she said. She decided to dialogue with the representation and opened her journal. She raised her pen, looked down at her open page and didn’t move. I waited a while and asked her what was happening, she said ‘nothing’. We sat in the silence, both very still. I noticed she continued to look down but her head was now turned slightly to the side, no longer in the direction of her empty page. I felt a sadness arise in my chest and she seemed to me to be ‘looking but not looking’.
I asked her what happens when she looks in a real mirror. She said ‘nothing… I don’t… I can’t look… I look away’.
